We’re Hiring a Head Club Team Coach! (Please share!)

If you have a passion for mountain biking, enjoy working with kids, and want to earn a stipend doing what you love, then consider joining the Reno Tahoe Junior Cycling team as the Head Coach for our Club team.

Our programs run through the Spring and Summer, with practices held twice per week, typically on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Practices take place at various locations throughout Washoe County.

RTJC’s mission is to develop, coach, and inspire junior cycling athletes. Established in 2011, RTJC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. www.renotahoejuniorcycling.com

Position:

  • Head Cycling Coach for elementary-aged children
  • Run three sessions in June, July, and August
  • This is a part-time, stipend position offering $3,000

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and manage TeamSnap for each session
    • This includes scheduling practices and communicating with parents and coaches.
  • Conduct training with volunteer coaches
  • Instruct fundamental biking skills
  • Provide mentorship and impart life lessons through cycling
  • Create a fun, challenging, and motivational atmosphere
  • Prioritize the 3 S’s: Safety! Skills! Stoke!
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate as part of a team
  • Adhere to RTJC safety policies
  • Lead coaching sessions at 2 practices per week
  • Fulfill all SafeSport requirements
  • Typical workload ranges from 4 to 10 hours per week

Qualifications:

  • Proficient mountain biker with extensive knowledge of local trails
  • Mountain bike instruction certification or training is advantageous
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Basic trailside bike maintenance skills
  • Outgoing, reliable, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • First Aid and CPR certified
  • Completion of Concussion, SafeSport, and other required training (RTJC covers costs)
